POSITION OVERVIEW

This is a full-time role reporting to the Discipleship Pastor. For this role, you’ll need to live in or near Columbus, OH, and be willing to work in the offices at X Church. Typical hours for this role are 9am-5pm Monday-Thursday, 7am-1pm Sunday, and on occasion, there is a need to work additional hours on evenings and weekends during special events throughout the year.

MISSION

The Discipleship Director exists to help people get on the path to God by leading both in-person and digital discipleship strategies with clarity, creativity, and spiritual intentionality. This role cultivates environments—whether through in-person relationships or digital pathways—that move people from passive attendance to intentional discipleship. With a heart for Circles and a vision for church-wide spiritual growth that moves people from attendance to transformation. The Discipleship Director ensures that every step people take is rooted in biblical truth, authentic community, and practical growth in Christ.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Discipleship Director will have the following primary responsibilities:

  • In-Person Discipleship Leadership: Oversees and champions the development and growth of Circle Groups across X Church. Recruits, trains, and disciples Circle Leaders and volunteers, ensuring all groups are healthy, multiplying, and aligned with our mission. Provides ongoing support and resources, curates group curriculum, and fosters a culture of relational discipleship and spiritual formation.
  • Digital Discipleship Integration: Leads the strategy and execution of online discipleship environments, including hosting teams, livestream engagement, and the delivery of weekly sermon notes and digital resources. Ensures online audiences have clear next steps and experience meaningful connection with the X Church community through intentional digital touchpoints.
  • Servant Leader Development: Provides direct oversight and leadership for the WTTX (Welcome to the X) Servant Leader Team, creating a consistent and high-touch onramp for individuals to step into spiritual family and ownership at X Church. Communicates with new attendees and prospects, maintains a strong volunteer pipeline, and teaches or supports WTTX sessions as needed.
  • Content Support & Creative Collaboration: Partners with the Discipleship Pastor and other teams to support and eventually develop discipleship content, resources, and creative tools that reinforce series themes and spiritual growth. May contribute to future initiatives including Bible reading plans, blogs, and podcast concepts that expand the reach of X Church’s teaching and formation.

REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience: 3+ years of experience in ministry leadership is preferred, though candidates with a background in team leadership, volunteer development, or systems-based strategy in a corporate or nonprofit setting will also be considered.
Physical: Ability to move around a large campus, assist with event setup/teardown, and lift materials or supplies up to 30 lbs.
Job Type: This is a Full-Time salaried role, with the potential to become Part-Time based on qualifications and church needs.
